EXCITING UPDATE FROM MICHAEL'S WIFE, CARLA (February 11, 2015):
Official 'Hearth' CD Launch & ‘The Making of Hearth’ Session announced!
It has been confirmed by Pam Merrigan, the Director of the National Folk Festival in Canberra that:
the ‘Hearth’ album will be launched, 5.30 pm Friday 3rd April on the main stage at the Festival. HOW EXCITING!
We have also received confirmation that that there will be a session called ‘The Making of Hearth’ on the Saturday morning at
The Terrace (above the Session Bar) from 11.30am -12.30pm. This will be a fabulous opportunity to hear about how ‘Hearth’ all
began, and the amazing process of how ‘Hearth’, as a double album, came about. Everyone welcome!
Michael had been booked two years in a row to appear as a headline act at the National Folk Festival, but ill health prevented him from
performing. It is absolutely wonderful and fitting that the first launch will take place in Canberra at this year's Festival!

Only a small handful of Michael’s new material was performed publicly so it will be a very special event with a line up of fabulous musicians
singing and playing the new ‘Hearth’ songs … Shane Howard, Carl Pannuzzo and Chris While will be gracing the stage. The ‘band’ is yet to
Currently I am sorting and listening to Michael’s live material for the album, finalising graphic art work and editing as the due date looms
closer. For an update on the album production please read Luke Plumb’s comments below.
CD’s, of course, will be on sale at the Festival, and will also become available through the website and a number of up-coming

With thanks for your support for this wonderful project … hope to see you at the National!
LUKE PLUMB'S LATEST NEWS
· For Michael Kennedy’s album we have guitar parts completed.
· Carl Pannuzzo has laid down the vocal parts for his three songs and I just got in the vocal takes from Karine Polwart which are beautiful.
· Recording some double bass this week with Shannon Birchall and will be eagerly awaiting the “band” parts and final vocal takes from
Shane Howard and Chris While.
· On the performance front I am trying to get a group together to launch Michael’s album at the National. Because it’s a total new project
it might require a bit of bolstering on the budget front as these festivals have to justify the dollars spent but I’m confident we’ll be able
to make it work and deliver a fitting tribute and launch for the album - which I think will be an absolute game changer for Australian

AN UPDATE ON "HEARTH" FROM LUKE PLUMB (from his website) 15th October 2014
"Kate has now finished the guitar parts that will anchor the album which means it’s ready for the next stage. I also spent a day in the studio with Carl Panuzzo working on lead vocals for three of the songs which have turned out really well.
This project is unique for any number of reasons but it has really struck me that having finished the guitar parts and Carl’s vocal, it will now be sent out across the ether and literally the globe to have the other parts added. I have some flavours of strings to add, and will maybe get some dbl bass recorded before it all comes back, but essentially I am going to be waiting with bated breath to hear how the rest of the “band” interprets my notes for each track. The next time I will work on it, I will be listening to a wonderful band, with vocals from three more great singers.
It feels like we’ve completed the bottom line of the jigsaw and the next time we see it there will be the entire remaining sections, readymade and awaiting assembly. That’s quite special.
Shane Howard said to me that he was finding it hard to enter the songs in preparation because the further in he got the more of a sense of loss he felt. I had a chat with Carl about this as well during our vocal recordings, that to fully understand and deliver the songs we almost have to enter the headspace of Michael. That’s quite a privilege really. Daunting, but a privilege to be working from within the world view of a really special person."
